Terelj National Park
Lying in the valley of the Terelj River 80 km northeast of Ulaanbaatar, Terelj national park has long been a holiday resort for people from the capital and short – stay tourists. It is one of the most visited areas in Mongolia due to its magnificient scenery and its proximity to Ulaanbaatar. There are great opportunities for hiking, rock climbing, simming, rafting, riding and bird watching. In winter frozen rivers provide skating and snow-covered valleys are ideal for cross- country skiing. Terelj is picturesque place of high cliffs of granite, rivers and forests. It is located in Khan Khenti Park. Precious stones, cloudy crystals and pure crystals were mined more than a hundred years ago in this area. A chunk of cloudy crystal of 7.5 tons of weight was founded there in 1960. 2864 sq.km area of Gorkhi Terelj was taken to state protection in 1993. We can see here distinctive rock formation resembling a giant turtle and a person reading a book etc. The Terelj River flows through Terelj Nationl Park. This river takes its sources from Asralt Khaikhan mountain of Khentii range and its rapid stream after 70 km flows in to the Tuul River.

Baldan Breiwen monastery
The monastery was established by Mongolian monk Tseveendorj. Monastery is considered as one of the three largest monasteries in Mongolia was built in 1777 It was one of the Mongolian biggest monasteries, had 5000-6000 monks. At that time the monastery had 4 religious colleges and more than 20 temples which for religious meeting every day. The main temple (tsogchin dugan) 30m*30m each side, was established between 1700- 1776 and one of the biggest construction in Mongolia. Huge number of lamas (half of monks) held with pest in 1900s and remained monks were imprisoned and killed during the religious repression in 1930s. All temples and buildings of monastery were fired and most of Buddha sculptures were melted for bullets at that time. There are many kinds of Buddha were painted and sculpted around the monastery. Also there is particular formation rock named “Mother womb”. The people who arrived there, do some actions such as was born, washed and cradled like new baby and finally sit on the king’s enthrone. This monastery was locked for 60 years but some monks arrived back to the monastery built a small wooden temple, joined together local people and restored activities in 1990.

Tsonjin boldog/ Chinggis khaan ststue complex
“Chinggis khan statue complex” is located 54 km from Ulaanbaatar among beautiful natural scenery on the bank of river Tuul, in the place called “Tsonjin Boldog”, memorial place connected with historic events. The statue in total is 40m high from surface erected at about 10 m high foundation. Chinggis Khaan holds a golden whip in his right hand. The visitors walk to the head of the horse through chest and back neck of the horse, where they can have farseeing and good panorama view over the complex area.

Khukh nuur of Khar zurkh
Khukh nuur (Blue Lake) is located in about 35 km from present Tsenkhermandal soum of Khentii province and this is a historical place where Temuujin (Chinggis Khan) was enthroned king of Mongolia in 1189. The land around the lake is a region as a taiga forest zone and vast depression surrounding mountain ranges.
