The trip takes you to the most Western point of Mongolia. Altai Tavan Bog national Park which has some of the most stunning scenery in all of Mongolia with snow-capped mountains, glaciers, deep lush valleys and large lakes. Our trek explores the best of the region in vehicle and on foot. During this tour you will meet culture of kazakh nomads and their unique way of lifestyle.
Itinerary:
Day1. Arrival in Ulan Bator. Transfer to hotel. City touring with Gandan monastery, Mongolia national Museum, Central square and Bogd Khaan winter palace. Meal:L,D
Day2. Flight to Ulgii, center of Bayan-Ulgii province. Flight takes 3 hours and meet your local team, drivers, cook and local guide. Short drive out of Ulgii. Tent stay. Meal:B,L,D
Day3. Entering Altai Tavan BogdNational park. Arrive at Shiveet Khairkhan Mountain via Tsagaan Gol. Visit to Tuvan nomad family. Tent stay. Meal:B,L,D
Day4. Leave vehicles here and luggages will be loaded on horse and camel back toward the Altai Tavan Bogd peaks of 4100-4374m. Tent stay. Meal:B,L,D
Day5. Start trekking to Potanin glacier. With the supports of camels, we will trek for 16 km to the base camp area close to Potanina glacier. We will camp in a field which allows us to have breathtaking views of the stunning, eye capturing peaks of the snow-capped mountains. Tent stay. Meal:B,L,D
Day6. Arrive back in Tsagaan gol. Relaxing and prepare for next days’ trekking. Tent stay. Meal:B,L,D
Day7-9. Start trekking to beautiful Khoton Khurgan lakes with camel and horse support. Tent stays. Meal:B,L,D
Day10. Meet the vehicle team and relaxing after several days trekking. Tent. Meal:B,L,D
Day11. Drive to Khovd. Admire the attractive view of majestic mountains on the way. Break the trip near the sheer Tolbo Lake and free hiking there. Visit the Zahchin or Urianhai ethnic nomad family. Tent stay. Meal:B,L,D
Day12. Arrive in Khovd city. Khovd province is homeland of throat singers. In the evening short performance of local throat singing at the local hotel. Meal:B,L,D
Day13. Flight back to Ulan Bator. Transfer to the hotel. Shopping and free day in UB. Cultural performance show in the evening. Meal:B,L,D
