Golden Eagle Festival was held 5 and 6 October, 2022 in Bayan-Ulgii province.
Mongolia is home to thousands years old tradition of hunting with trained Golden Eagles. This tradition has been passed from generation to generation among the Kazakh nomads, and even survived the harsh regime when national identities such as religions and traditions were oppressed.
The Kazakh are an ethnic group mostly inhabit in the Altai Mountains in Western Mongolia. Kazakhs have a tradition of hunting on horseback with trained steppe eagles. Each year, the Kazakhs hold Golden Eagle Festival which is held annually in first weekend of every October in Bayan-Ulgii province. The Golden Eagle Festival features about 70-80 eagle hunters and their eagles show off their skills in several events.
The Golden Eagle Festival provides a great opportunity for visitors to get up close to the eagle hunters and their trained golden eagles.gle Festival begins with eagle hunters parade and each hunter displaying the hunting outfits and elaborate, beautifully adorned accessories.
